GERARD HEARN
Cowboy Mounted Shooting is an exhilarating equestrian sport that merges Wild West exhibition shooting with skills from barrel racing, pole bending, and reining. Competitors use two .45 caliber single actionvers loaded with black powder blanks to shoot ten balloon targets while riding their horse through challenging courses. The sport is timed, with the fastest rider who misses the least targets declared the winner. Open to all rider levels and equine breeds, participants start at Class level 1 and advance as they gain experience and wins. Classes are available for men, women, seniors, and younger members in the Wrangler Class.
From our humble beginnings we now boast that we have entertained millions of home grown Albertans as well as guests and visitors from around the world...from small town Alberta where we still run on grass tracks to major televised and radio events such as The Grande Prairie Stompede, The Ponoka Stampede, and Teepee Creek Stampede. Just as the people who appreciate us coming to their "neck of the woods" we are equally proud to be able to continue to offer them the opportunity to see and visit with us...and give them the chance to "Taste The Dust"... that's been our commitment for over 40 years.
